About this area:
 Amador is a place where history, natural resources, and California’s changing economic climate converge. Located in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada, surrounding counties include Alpine to the east, Sacramento to the west, El Dorado to the north, and Calaveras to the south. A scenic area known for its Gold Rush beginnings, Amador also thrived during the deep-rock mining era of the early 1900s.
