About this area:
Monterey County is situated along almost 100 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline. It is bordered on the inland sides by Santa Cruz County to the north, San Benito, Fresno, and Kings counties to the east, and San Luis Obispo County to the south. The county is comprised of two distinct sub-regions: the Monterey Peninsula, and the Salinas River Valley, which runs almost the entire length of the county.
