About this area:
 The combined city, county and port of San Francisco is located on a hilly peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. Bordered by San Mateo to the south, the county is the smallest in California, occupying just forty-seven square miles of land. The most prominent of San Francisco’s hills are Twin Peaks, Mount Davidson and Mount Sutro, both more than 900 feet in height. The best known are Nob Hill and Telegraph Hill. Also inside the county’s borders are the natural islands of Alcatraz and Yerba Buena and man-made Treasure Island.
